The proposed alterations and additions draw inspiration from both the rich heritage of Redfern and contemporary architectural principles, creating a design that is refined, contextual and enduring. The proposal carefully balances respect for the existing character of the area with a modern design expression.

A key objective of the project was to maximise the usable backyard by reconfiguring the ground floor layout, including the relocation of the garage and living areas. This thoughtful reorganisation creates a more functional and efficient floor plan while strengthening the connection between the home and its outdoor spaces, resulting in a more generous, light-filled and enjoyable living environment.

Complementing the new layout, a contemporary studio was positioned above the proposed garage, providing a flexible and independent space that can accommodate a range of uses, including a home office, guest accommodation or creative workspace. The addition reinforces the overall architectural composition while making efficient use of the site.
