Perched at the top of a sloping site, the original cottage provided the opportunity for an extension that responds directly to the natural topography. The new addition steps with the existing terrain, creating a series of interconnected levels that integrate seamlessly with the landscape and enhance the spatial experience of the home.

Despite the site's southern orientation, maximising natural light was a key objective of the design brief. A carefully considered roof form introduces abundant daylight into the main living spaces, creating bright and welcoming interiors throughout the day.

The living areas are arranged across two levels to strengthen the relationship between the home and its surroundings. The upper living space is positioned to capture views and establish a strong visual connection with the landscape, while the lower level opens directly onto the backyard, blurring the boundary between indoor and outdoor living and creating a seamless extension of the home.
